Greek Man Arrested For Exiting Cyprus Airways Plane During Takeoff ...
It now seems that the Cyprus police have apparently arrested a Greek man for allegedly opening the rear exit of an airplane during takeoff. After opening the door it is said that the man slid down the emergency chute.
The suspect, Moreno Tavares Lizason, is now being held for questioning on a four day court detention order issued last Monday. The 28-year-old man does face charges for causing damage to the aircraft after exiting the Athens bound Cyprus Airways A320 jet last Saturday. The man apparently opened the door just moments before the captain placed the order to lock all the aircraft’s doors.
Police said that the man claimed that he wanted to see if the aircraft’s safety systems were working properly or not. However, before police could talk to Lizason, they had to catch him. After jumping out of the plane the man apparently jumped a fence at the Larnaca International Airport. However, police were able to catch up with him very shortly after.
This is just yet another problem that the airline industry has to deal with. If it’s not enough that they are having to try and tackle the ongoing recession, they are also having to deal with passengers who may not normally fly. This is due to the fact that airlines are lowering prices to try and bring as many people on board as possible.
Despite having a good amount of people flying now, airlines are still not making good profit because of how much is costs to fly. Things like this little outburst makes some people scared to even set foot on a plane, because they are not sure what is going to happen.
